Wallace’s Game Proposal

Concept Art

Proposal:

I was thinking of creating a management style strategy game with the mice and cats. In this game, the mice and cats realized that their true enemy is the queen, and they teamed up and usurped her. The game would probably be akin to the Mount & Blade series, or Pikmin, where you have to recruit nearby groups of cats and mice, or even other animals, assuming they’re as sentient as the mice and cats. You would play as Cadbury and the sword and horn give him the ability to manage such a large group, because each of the mice spirit warriors could help lead a unit of animals. It lets him keep track of the goings on of the growing town. Most of the game would consist of recruitment, resource gathering, fishing, and fighting off attempts to remove the animals from the castle and surrounding villages. The game would take place mostly at night where the mice and cats won’t be noticed. They could even trade with humans or convince them to join their society.

Player objectives:

The player would complete various resource management tasks and minigames to complete certain tasks. There could also be combat where the player leads a large group of different animals, like in Mount & Blade. The main goal is to maximize the happiness and prosperity of all of the different animals that reside in the castle and surrounding areas.

Game mechanics:

As stated, the game would be a resource management style game, where you primarily complete different tasks by interacting with different mice. Each mouse would be the leader of a specific guild, and you can choose to perform certain tasks with each guild group. This would give you a task where you lead that particular group in whatever they’re performing. It would be a 3 dimensional, 3rd person perspective style game.

Characters and Key Objects:

The two key objects that allow the game to take place are the sword and the horn. All of the characters from the source material could also appear as guild leaders. Max the Magnificent would likely become the point-person for managing the cats.

Game World:

The game world would consist of the castle, and the adjacent areas to the castle, including a large river with fish.

Gameplay highlights/hooks/features:

The main gameplay would be helping with the various tasks needed to help all of the mice and cats get what they need. So effectively, you would be in a large over world, and are given tasks by guild leaders that you manage. How well you do at these tasks will affect how much you complete/ how many of a particular resource you can gather. There would be limited time, similar to the Pikmin games where you pick up where you left off the next in-game day.

Intended audience:

The intended audience for this game could be anyone who’s into strategy games. It could appeal to anyone, since violence isn’t particularly necessary. Younger children probably couldn’t play it though, just because it would be too complex.

Game style/player experience:

The game would be styled like the Pikmin games, where you develop your town of animals instead of gathering fruit. It would have resource management, and different minigames for each resource task.

Art style:

I was thinking the art style could be like a combination of the art style of Necropolis, and the art style of the story book. The characters would be slightly simplified with slightly flat shading, but with complexfloral patterns for a lot of the decor.

Mood:

The mood would be fairly bright except for possible combat portions, for example with aggressive groups that refuse to work with the town and its residents, and possible attackers from surrounding kingdoms.
