Emma Lowry Final Project

The goal of this project was to create a game environment that incorporated feudal Japanese and medieval European styles and had a strong visual identity.

While working on this project, I modeled and hand-painted a modular set for buildings, sculpted and textured (both hand-painted and Substance) a high poly character, optimized him, and put him together along with the scene. I think I learned a lot throughout the entire process, especially about Unity and the 3D character pipeline. It was really cool to take this from start to finish!

Unfortunately, I also wasn’t able to get WebGL working (I installed the files Unity said I needed/directed me to, but they weren’t recognized and I wasn’t able to build. Maybe it’s a version issue?).

But overall, I had a lot of fun putting this together! I ended up making and texturing a couple extra pieces to set up my hero object, added music, and an extra layer of texture on Matsuoka (the cat guy).

Here’s a quick environment walkthrough:

Damn this is crazy amazing – loving how you took one aesthetic and pushed it all the way, sticking with that warm, orange feel. Your character fits the environment very well too. Other than the shadow thingy I mentioned in class, I can’t find much to critique on! Nice job Emma
