Max’s Library Level

I wanted to create a 3d platformer with Max the Cat as the main playable character. Inspired by other 3d platformers like Super Mario 64, I wanted my level to be created as a single island that you have to traverse to reach the goal. Originally there was meant to be more floors and the goal was meant to be a mouse that would get scared when you got close, but these features were dropped for the sake of time. Key features are push-able book platforms, multiple levels, challenging platforming, respawning, and detailed game objects such as the brooch and the rock garden.

Like the professor said, psychedelic is a good way to describe your level. Z-fighting aside, I like that you have some intractable objects.

The interactive books are really neat. It’s great that they reset themselves too. The whole scene looks like an interesting place to explore.

I really love that instead of a housecat, you chose to put a quadraped tiger in your game! It’s a refreshing twist on the cat and mouse concept and definitely added to the whimsy of your level.

I think the moving books add a lot to the level! They are a relatively simple animation but they make the level seem so much more interactive and exciting.

Definitely a unique vibe to your game. As soon as you start it, the game already feels very puzzly. I think it has to do with how full the environment feels, with all the book shelves. Nice job with interaction too!
