The Mouse Queen Game Concept – Isaac Donkoh-Halm

The Mouse Queen is a monarch-mecha game where a mouse must control a queen’s action in order to avoid suspicion from cats and the entire non-mouse kingdom.

“Anyone can sue!”

Story

Inspired by the psychological thriller Ratatouille (2007), The Mouse Queen takes place sometime after The Royal Mice when the queen has accepted the mice as her own. Things were going well until the queen hears terrible news! Hearing that she wasted valuable kingdom resources to get rid of some mice, her father has announced a surprise visit to check on the castle. If a single thing is out of place, the queen will lose her crown! Paralyzed with fear, it’s up to you to help the queen run a model kingdom and impress her father!

Gameplay

The player must complete a number of objectives while controlling the queen without being caught. Some objectives could include:

  • Approving/disapproving kingdom matters
  • Eating gracefully
  • Conduct military operations
  • Drinking tea with your pinky out (most important)

The only way to get caught is to have the queens crown be removed from her head. The crown can be removed by having a number of objects thrown at the head, or it can slip off if the player moves around too much.

Highlights

While the goal is to not get caught controlling the queen, the game will allow the player complete freedom of royal shenanigans. For example, the player might be given the option to make an ordinance that restricts farmers to only making cheese. What are they going to do, unionize? As the queen, you can do what you want.
