Gavin Taylor – Portfolio

Low Poly 3D Model

Here are a couple scenes in progress for my MQP. I used basic primitives to create a kitchen, and a bathroom. I also have a living room and bedroom that are in early alpha at the moment.

Photoshop

This is an original illustration that i created sometime last year, but have yet to finish it. There wasn’t any real point of reference other than what I was thinking at the time. I wanted to play with colors and textures more.

Digital Painting

These next images were from a separate portfolio made for Digital Painting, a class I took last term. The first is a grey-scale value study of a pepper, and I think it turned out really good. I don’t normally do value studies, but this one was fun. Below that is what my final project turned out to be. It’s a huge cast in the sky and a traveler is trying to find his way in.

funny – you took a pretty stiff ‘wumbo’ monologue from spongebob (which was already pretty funny on its own) and you added all those huge leans and exaggerated poses, which make it a lot funnier. Good job!

Thought-Provoking – I’m thinking about how provoked I am by your art. Real talk tho, “wumbo” doesn’t work as a verb.

Colorful: That photoshop piece has a psychadelic look to it, which looks like it was taken straight from an Adult Swim bumper, and that’s pretty cool.

  4. Jack Riley says:

Shiny- Even though it’s not particularly reflective, the combination of linework and color choice for the photoshop illustration makes it catch the eye, and looks pretty good even if it’s unfinished.

  5. Tyler Marcus says:

Colorful – I enjoyed the color usage in your illustration

  6. Sarah Love says:

thought-provoking – that photoshop painting you have is pretty rad. I like that the sun seems to be melting? It’s pretty neat

  7. Joy Tartaglia says:

Colorful – I like the purple sky in the photoshop illustration.

Shiny – the way you use lines and colors makes your digital 2D art really eye-catching!
