Shiyi_Liu’s Detailed Game Object

I was inspired by the Great Sword in WAM. It is almost the same as the object in the museum but I want my sword to look old enough so I add some bumpiness to the sword. I also add a  string of characters on the sword which shows that it is different from the normal sword without the magic of call out the spirit of mice.

I love the level of detail on your textures–the runes on the sword are really cool, and the textures on the hilt are incredibly detailed as well. That shows a lot of care put into this and that’s pretty rad. If I was to suggest something, I would suggest putting scratches on the sword itself instead of the overall hammered metal texture. Even very old swords are still relatively smooth aside from their nicks and scratches, unless they have rust patches, in which case they’d be a different color anyways. Overall, though, it looks cool, and a lot like the sword you were basing it off of.

The texture on the handle of your sword looks very nice. The blade of your sword is very rough in texture right now. I would consider altering the blade textures so that the overall blade has a high smoothness with a few scratches added through normal mapping. This would probably make the engravings stand out more as well. Your sword structure and color choices both look really nice. One final thing I would suggest is to consider smoothing the ring at the end of the sword handle. In contrast to the rest of the sword, it looks very geometric. Looks good overall right now!

The details on the sword look really nice. The wooden handle looks spot on. The blade could be maybe a bit smoother, otherwise great job!

I like the textures on the handle especially how it alternates between wood and leather as it gives it both an aesthetic and practical look. The sword is very textured and makes it look a bit more like wood than metal, so smoothing it would make it look even better. Great job on the sword it looks great.
