Kate Olguin Lighting

My biggest challenge with the lighting was getting light to shine through the stained glass windows. Unity doesn’t natively support light coming through semi transparent objects, so I had to force it with some spotlights, cookies, and projectors. I’m pretty pleased with the effect I got. I tried to place the lights and lamps so that the player would have a natural sense of where to go next throughout the level. Additionally, I added some more clutter to my rooms, and added an emissive texture to my lightbulbs that were connected with the lamp so the glow was more pronounced. I also made a procedural skybox and manipulated to sun color and atmosphere tint so the light is less harsh. Finally, just for some added effect (and fun), I made a particle effect for my fireplace complete with point light so I could have some nice fire.
