Here’s some of the simple progress so far! While texturing my work I realize that it isn’t where I want it to be. If possible I would like to go back and work on the models further to make them more realistic and less blocky.
I worked on making the flooring feel like boards rather than a continuous piece of wood as well as desaturating the colors in itHere is an example of a model I’d like to look at further, especially the lip of the mug and the handle. While the texture is like a glazed clay and works for what I want, the model itself needs love
An example of something I will need to re-UV as it isn’t getting colored properly:
Statement of Meaning: I am delighted by the door, it looks life-like!
Neutral Question: What color ideas do you have for other elements of your project not shown here?
Opinion: I know you are stressed about your project right now but I think you are doing great!
I am pleased that you are sticking with your original concept inspired from seasonal affective disorder. The idea is really strong and you seem to have a clear vision.
Opinion: I think you are on the right track and moving in the right direction. Unity can cause anxiety, but it is similar to Maya once you get used to the UI.
Which areas of the house will your level consist of?
The floorboard looks great and really feels like it has individual boards! This might help with the mug and other things: bevel/chamfer the lip of the mug (by .1 or .2) so it’s not as blocky and sharp. It’ll help things look more lifelike because nothing in real life is perfectly sharp – even table edges are slightly shaven down. It’s helped me a lot! Here’s a tutorial that explains why and how to bevel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6r7ba1KXGRk
I appreciate that the floorboards are actual boards!
Opinion: I think you have a good palette of colors for your furniture. If you are tight on time, you can just sample from the ones you’ve chosen in the door, floorboards, and cup! You got this!
