My level takes place in a Toadstool Forest! You play as a tiny pixie, so the objects in the world look huge compared to you. The pixie you play as wishes to see the outside world. At the beginning of the game you start in the pixie village where you can see many cute mushroom houses. You also encounter a wise old mushroom turtle who tells you the door to the outside world can be found by going through the hedge maze. You can go through the maze and once you are out you find the door you have been looking for. I added particles, music, and a voice over by the mushroom turtle to try to make the game feel more finished and more magical.

When I look back on my project, I definitely learned a lot. I had not done much 3D modeling so making all my models was a learning process for me. I also had never worked with Unity or Substance, so I was able to learn two new programs. I would say my most significant area of growth was becoming comfortable with making 3D art. I had always tried to stay away from it because I had a bad experience when I first tried to learn it. I now feel I have a good workflow and understanding on how to create 3D models and texture those models.

I would like to give credit and thanks to Caden Crist, who created and composed the music that I am using in my level.

The following pictures are screenshots I took that I think show off my level as a whole as well as showing off some of my favorite aspects of my level.

I hope you enjoyed my final project!

Thank You

Great stuff! I love the diversity of mushrooms and mushroom scales. It really adds to the overall feeling of the environment. I also think that the variety of mushrooms really adds to the color of the scene, and I think that’s something great!

The level’s decoration and colors are great! Your turtle character also fits the setting very well. Nice job.

I think your level turned out wonderfully cartoony and whimsical. I still can’t believe you hand painted all the objects! I especially enjoy your mushroom turtle along with their animation and voice over. Good use of audio and particle effects, and I think you’re right, it does add magic!

Your whole project came out really well, but two things stand out to me. I particularly enjoyed looking at the atlas since you have a strong diversity of objects. I also have a greater appreciation for your lighting/skybox than when I first saw it. It’s simple, but seeing the objects under default lighting in the atlas really shows how much your custom lighting helps. It must have been a challenge having to deal with the turtle casting shadows on itself, but you made it look effortless.

I really enjoyed how alive your space felt! It was full of fun colors and shapes that made the environment feel magical! I also love the flowers on the walls that make the space feel more fun. You did a really good job at making the experience bright!

Your environment is so magical! I really appreciate the diversity of your assets and texturing. I can see this being a large playground or interactive family museum for teaching about plants 🙂

Your level is literally full of life. It is very charming and appealing. You definitely put a lot of time into creating your assets and it’s paid off.
