Nathan Clune Introduction

Hello peoples! My name is Nathan Clune and I’m an independent game designer from New Jersey. I’m currently attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute as an Interactive Media & Game Design major.

I have some reservations about pursuing the game industry, but I know I want to work in some sort of visual design. I feel strongly about that because the artistic process is something I find creatively fulfilling, and I’ve always been interested in the idea of designing any sort of experience. Even outside of games, I find user experience to be a compelling challenge. Figuring out the best way to make something interesting, intuitive, or otherwise engaging is something I enjoy thinking about.

I also have interest and experience in 2D and 3D animation. My favorite programs would have to be Adobe Animate and Maya, respectively, but I also have experience with most of the Adobe suite. Between drawing, modeling, animation, or video editing, I try to stay as well-rounded as possible. I generally prefer to stick with digital art because more often than not, what I produce is math based. Whenever possible, I would rather type in numbers to tell the computer what I want rather than create something manually. Plus, there’s no ctrl-z on a sheet of paper.

I also have a website to display some of the game projects I have worked on in the past, as well as my general resume. All of the games featured on the website are playable in some form. For each one, the website provides either a download link or the playable game itself! You can find these projects at nathanclune.org.

No Body Home is a co-op platformer I worked on with The Sheep’s Meow.

This is a model of Abe from Oddworld. I created him as my final project for 3D Modeling I.

These are screenshots from SPACE SEED and TAG TEAM, both of which are games I worked on in a group at the Champlain Game Academy.

These are preview images from SCRAMBLED and PLAYING WITH FIRE. Each of these games were made for a game jam in only a few days.

This is a mock movie poster based on an old fairy tale by the same name. I created it as part of a Digital Imaging class.

Swipe It! and No Body Home are both really *quirky* and seem like my type of game!

I give you the shiny badge because all of your work seems clean and polished. I’m loving your color choices on the Swipe it! and Riddle Rush! character icons. I’m going to check out your website. Also, I am impressed by your character model from 3D modeling 1, I know my final was not nearly as polished. Interesting that you stick to digital, I actually mostly try to stick to traditioinal because I love making art with my hands on paper or with tangible mediums (without the ctrz). That’s part of the fun!
