Charlie Baldwin Character Modeling & Texturing

This is an incredibly late submission but I’m climbing my way out of a bit of a funk and I’m finally finishing up my character model.

I did the main modeling in ZBrush, and I also used the poly paint feature to do the texturing. The big mistake I made with this was not making a serious piece of concept art. I had a very tiny rough sketch of my character on my original concept sketch for the overall project, and I based most of my modeling off of that. This ended up being really difficult, and retrospectively I realized that his design would have benefitted greatly from a more formal concept piece. In the end the character ended up being a lot more bland than I would have hoped because of this. However, I’m still pretty happy with how parts of him turned out.

He looks really great! I really like the potions on his back they look yummy!

I appreciate the color palette! It’s easy on the eyes, but maybe a bit too uniform depending on what you’re going for. If the potions are supposed to be a focal point, mission accomplished.

Edit: I don’t know if that last sentence came out right, but I REALLY like the potions

I can see how much time you spent on him! You have some serious modeling skill that shows heavily in the face and hair. I also loved the way in which you textured the bottles, they look great!

I’m so glad to hear that you’re climbing out of your funk! Your character looks great, just like I imagined from the feedback session and your concept art. He looks very much like an explorer.
