For this project, I was inspired to create yet another seasonal item. This one allows you to choose a season based on an origami shape, and then the user can take a photograph of that season using the camera. The photo is loaded from a database of pre-selected photos. When the user choose a season, there is a pop-up on the screen confirming to the user that the correct season was chosen, then the user can take a picture, the shutter sound will released, and the image taken will appear on the screen. I found it challenging to make the physical pieces. I’m more handy with digital art (Graphic Design, Photography, etc.) so this project got me out of my comfort zone and into the physical realm of art. I need work on my physical art skills, but this is a good start.
Great use of origami to represent each season with a bit of depth. I also really like the use of a camera as an interface for interactions. Only thing that I could suggest would be to add more variety in the pictures (maybe at least three per season).
It’s very creative to use makey makey to simulate a photograhing process, the pictures are also really nice. From my perspective, a black camera will make it more realistic.
The camera is very compelling, it makes you feel like you are really taking the picture. I might suggest you add a cut out to the camera for a viewing window. This means you don’t have to put a screen in the camera but you can still see the seasons through the camera.
The colors you chose are beautifully pastel, and your origami/cardboard camera are impressively done. The only improvement I could see one making is adding additional photos for each season so that one can get a different photo when they take a picture, instead of the same one each time.
Great idea for the snapshots, it’s a nice touch that you used your own pictures as well. I would recommend having a different/smoother transition when selecting a season as the screen change is quite jarring.
Taking pictures with a paper camera is mind-blowing. You are a great photographer and your pics are beautiful. My only suggestion is that adding more pictures to the list.
Great idea! It’s awesome that you used your own pictures in this project, you have quite the eye for photography! Further, your origami represent the different seasons very well and present an intuitive way to interact with the piece.
One thing you could add to expand on the idea is a weather modifier. Perhaps a dial in the center of the box that could add rain, snow, or clouds, and then the pictures would reflect that.
The camera is so cool!
The origami is well-made, as well as the camera itself. Very cool idea, and great work.
