Sensory Metaphors: Starship Control Board

For my final project, I decided to use my fascination with science fiction and animation to teach life lessons based off of a spaceship’s control panel board.

This device is powered by a Makey Makey and contains three buttons, one ground, and a lever.  Each controls its own particular function in the project.  There are six custom animations that I created for this simulation using a combination of PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite.

The three buttons trigger steering left, right, and an overload, resulting in an error.  This signifies that if you do too much at once, there’s a chance of lockdown which ends up heeding progress.  The lever controls warp speed, at FTL travel.  Pushing the lever forwards all the way triggers the acceleration animation while pulling it back triggers a drop out of warp speed.
