Looks real good so far. As mentioned in class, make sure you put in some normals if you haven’t already, and some lighting/highlights effecting the cannon could help a little.
Definitely add normals. The wood planks on the deck of the ship look a little flat and the normals can add a lot of detail where none exists geometrically.
Along with the comment on normals, I would suggest working with different material settings specific to the woods and metals in the scene. It will cause for some variation in the way your added lighting will affect the scene.
Awesome looking ship, all the pieces of it seem to fit very well together. Maybe you could add normals and specular maps to the textures and try out some different shaders to differentiate between metal and wood
