Don’t Crash Tiles – Qianlin Duanmu

This is my first attempt at pixel-style drawing. And Photoshop was almost driving me crazy.

So I used another software 100 times friendlier than photoshop – Aseprite. Software specially designed for pixel style painting

Image from google.

For this game, all I need is a room and a few items. Items include a computer, a tablet, a guitar and a sofa.

Since my own room has white walls, I chose gray to paint the walls.

I used a spray tool to express the carpet flooring.

There is also a table to place those items. And a door, in fact, I realized that I forgot about the door after I finished everything.

I struggled with drawing the character for a while. The main issue is the character’s head-to-body ratio. I’ve always drawn the character weird.

This is my final result of the room or the game level.

Personally, the characters’ face is what I am most satisfied with. An emotionless task completer.

I liked how you used the spray tool for your rugs! It turned out looking very good!
What made you want the character to be emotionless?

Because I am batman. Just joking.
I thought about using expressions to express the character’s state before. Smiley means ok. A crying face indicates that the character is about to crush. But then I felt that the expressionless face was more indicative of the character being busy getting work done.

I’m surprised by your detailed painting of the objects like the sofa, guitar, tablet and PC.
How did you make your 2d-painting sofa looks like 3d?

OMG I love your set, I wanna check out this website you used, thanks for sharing it, I also am loving the line work you are able to achieve, its like minimal and detailed! The way you were able to create the carpet is really fun, reminds me a cool rug design or the carpet at hotels.
