My 2D animation is for the main character of my game- a cat! The perspective of the game is top-down, so the cat has 4 animations: Idle, Moving Left (this can be mirrored for Moving Right), Moving Up, and Moving Down. The sprite sheet is above, and a video of the animations playing in Unity is below. The movements automatically update based on the direction, though there is certainly refinement to be done there. I especially like the leg movement on the left/right walk cycle, though I wish the art style I had chosen allowed me to put more detail into the legs. I referenced a cat walk-cycle animation sheet, and I think it made the leg movement feel very natural for the left/right animation.

I love this! The cat is great. I can see its head turn when it is facing forward and I believe the animation as well. That is, I believe the cat is moving. I wonder if you were trying to keep a pixelated cat for your concept? If so…right on. How are you going to implement the cat?
