Overview
A clean subtle mosaic piece, with subtle dynamic interaction
Laser cut plastic mirror, in a geometric volcano shape, with light coming through through cracks.
Technology/Input
The output color of some of the lights in the core of the volcano will adapt based on the temperature.
Higher temperatures will cause more red and orange as well as have the lights get closer to the top of the volcano.
- Daily temperature pulled from web
- Temperature sensor
- Cycle through weekly temperature pulled from web
Lighting
The whole main structure will be lit by bright white light
The center, maybe 2-3 cracks will be colored with a range from blue at the bottom, fading to a soft turquoise/sea foam green, to white in the middle, then yellows and reds at the top.
Scale: I would like the volcano to be about three feet tall, however want to keep this piece portable
I will need to find an adhesive and a glass pane to attach everything to so it stays in place
I will also use wax paper or a filter so you cannot see the bulbs of the leds, but just smooth even light.
Temperature sensor/ wifi capabilities
What if internet connection goes out – static lighting set if connection lost
Output/Goal
- Give temperature a feeling and a sight, be able to look at the mirror and gain information about your surrounding in a captivating way
