My inspiration for this light art project was to showcase the beauty of contrast and of opposites. I enjoy the allure of metal sculpturing, especially in nature pieces because of its uncommon presence in the natural world. Introducing light into this piece meant emphasizing the visualization of life coursing through a tree, in reference to our ever growing neglect and indifference of our forests and environment as merely objects that can be thrown aside.
I’ve met a lot of ups and downs in this project, but in the end, I am very proud of the way it turned out. I made a piece that I believe in and I wouldn’t have had the motivation to pursue it if not for this class. Special thanks to Professor Rosenstock for this inspiration.
