This pass week really has been the failing week for me. some of the solutions mentioned last week were found out not feasible such as glass cutting and chemistry lab. So i end up scavenging some plastic bottle and cutting them. One turned out pretty good and i started to see some convection effects once i put the flame source inside it. I went with a 20ml metal shot glass and tested if the flame are significant. Turns out they are, actually very strong flame that burned my fingers. I’m still playing with the amount of fuel that is safe to operate yet still have a significant visual effect. I think some shallow metals caps would be a good fit but i’m still on the look out for one. In terms of the cylinder alternatives, i went a bit creative with a light bulb shape bottle i found, but cutting it was a real challenge, and i ended up breaking it. Also i noticed that they do have a low tolerance to heat, so i either need to reduce the amount of fuel or shorten the burning time. Additionally, in terms of color sources, i tested orange and blue and they both work pretty well, i’m a bit hesitant on taking apart dead batteries. I’m going to keep experimenting with other salts and see if any other ones are visual appealing.
(btw i broke my phone screen this weekend so i can’t even upload photos, what a “try and fail” week :P)
