After several weeks of working on this project, it is finally done! I am really proud of what I was able to accomplish, and I am definitely interested in exploring the combination of paper and light further. Below is a video featuring various images of my piece that I felt really captured my work well.

My final project features four layers of hand cut paper backlit by strips of remote controlled LEDs, which therefore have color-changing capabilities as captured by the images in the video. The light is diffused by multiple layers of tissue paper. The layers are contained in pre-made shadow box, and are held together by a combination of layers of paper and hot glue.  If I had more time to work on this project, I would definitely consider learning more about programmable LED strips with the hopes of controlling the colors in certain areas of the piece, as opposed to having one color for the entire background. Regardless, the layers of paper still provide the affect of having various shades of dark and light, which I think is really cool. Thanks to Professor Rosenstock for a really great class and  the opportunity to work on this project throughout the term. It was really interesting to see everyone in the class’ projects develop over the past couple of weeks, and I hope to continue learning about light art even after this course is over!
