Introduction – Ty Riviere

Heyo!

My names Thomas, but you should call me Ty. I don’t really go by Thomas that often. I am from Hooksett, NH where I grew up playing lots of sports, my favorites including Hockey, Lacrosse, and Tennis. Nowadays my favorite things to do are Skateboarding and creating art.

Why Art?

I always loved doodling when I was young, drawing my favorite Star Wars characters or Pokemon. In 9th grade I learned how to use Photoshop and fell in love with Graphic Design. I have been using it for all different purposes since, including class projects, memes, birthday cards, etc. Later on in 11th Grade I got an iPad, or should I say my sister got an iPad, and that’s where I started drawing digitally. I started drawing cartoons on an app called Autodesk Sketchbook that was full of different brushes, colors, and tools (very similar to Procreate if you are familiar). And that’s when I just started pouring hours into drawing and found my passion for creating art. Now it’s my iPad, not my sisters, love drawing on that thing.

In college, I joined Theta Chi Fraternity and kind of got shoved into being the art kid in the house. This is where I learned how to paint, watching Bob Ross videos, lots of acrylic on canvas, painting the rock outside the chapter house and also wall murals throughout the house.

I always dreamed about doing graphic design as a career, but unfortunately I feel like they just do not make enough money from that alone and so that’s why we’re here doing engineering. Also, its not so fun trying to make art for someone else who is really picky. Aside from that, I hope to make some really dope art pieces along my life and maybe I’ll get famous, that’d be cool… I think. I really like to try different mediums and mess around with different techniques, and I can’t wait to have my own studio/art room someday.

Programming?

I have experience programming in several different languages for different purposes including controlling Microcontrollers, making Apps in Android and iOS, and making HTMLs. I am an ECE major so you can imagine that I have some experience wiring things up. I have programmed a couple LED boards similar to the one shown by the professor last week, but controlled by Arduino.

Other Art Forms?

I don’t sing or dance or anything, other than the shower. I love music though, especially rap. Rock is cool too. If you care at all, my favorite rappers are Lil Uzi Vert, Trippie Redd, and J. Cole. I am very passionate about music. It would be really cool someday if someone let me do an album cover.

SHINY: Those pieces are awesome, especially the skateboarder and the rap artists. I would get those at an art fair.

Hi Ty, I will give you the Thought-provoking badge. I really like how your outdoor mural with the cat and mountain blends into the environment. The whole thing has a really soft calming vibe to it.
