Hello there. My name is Rachel Feldman and I am a junior majoring in electrical and computer engineering. I never took an art class until college. I decided to take art as my humanity depth because it seemed like fun. Through these classes, I have scratched the surface of 3D modeling and animation. I have learned the basics of Zbrush, Maya, 3Ds Max, Substance Painter, and Unreal. My favorite class was 3D environmental modeling because I did not have to work with organic shapes. I hope to use those concepts and create a model for this class. I have no portfolio to show as any work I did for my classes felt incomplete and unfit to be shared. My art is terrible due to my lack of skill, but that is okay. I like art because it was fun and often my only relief in a busy day of classes. I have no time or interest in continuing art outside of these classes.
While learning more about my major, I have taken a liking to the embedded side of ECE. These classes use FPGAs and Microcontrollers that have multiple sensors and displays. Projects range from detecting light levels, audio playback, temperature reading, and clocks. The majority of these boards can be programmed with C/C++. Assembly language has also been useful in diagnosing and optimizing code. My most recent class focused on real-time systems. With a current internship in this field, I hope to continue expanding my knowledge.
