Introduction – Kaamil Lokhandwala

on

Hey all! I’m Kaamil, a senior here at WPI. I ‘ve been to school in Tewksbury, MA, Karachi, Pakistan, and Andover, MA before coming to WPI. I consider myself an artist at heart, but I studied computer science along with my IMGD (BA) degree. I like to think of technology as a new medium for artwork. I definitely have a certain love for physical mediums as well, especially ink, watercolors, and more recently cloth art.

As for programming, I’m right at home with Unity and I’ve been growing very comfortable with JavaScript. I’ve been using both to delve into visual shader effects, something I hope to explore more in this practicum.

I finally got around to making a portfolio website this winter break to house my past projects, so if anyone is interested, here’s the link!

My recent projects have been digital and interactive in some way, and I just finished a Unity game for my MQP. In B term I was able to sell some prints at the art fair! Here are the prints I ended up selling:

Here’s some cloth and traditional art I made last summer:

Hi Kaamil, I will give you the Detailed badge. I played with your interactive Three.js works. I really liked the colors used in your piece Open and how the 3D curtains move more as the shutters are opened. Super dope.

i’m giving you the colorful badge! the colors you choose for your pieces are very distinctive and add such great atmosphere. they make each seem like a unique world to explore, like there is more to each environment than just what’s in the piece. great work!

STRIKING: Not that I’m into feet or anything but those feet are really good! The bright red highlight just really struck out to me. I also admire the other colors chosen for the rest of the scene and their abstract-ness.
