Everything Working

on

This week I worked on the hot air balloons and attaching them to the box. So far, everything is working pretty well! Earlier in the week I went to Michaels and found some round ornaments in different sizes that I bought to use to make varying sized balloons to give more of a 3D illusion. I was not able to find a shadow box that would fit my needs for a reasonable price, so I got a storage box and painted the inside black. I made 4 more balloons and used both the tea lights I ordered and some string lights for the smaller balloons. I then attached them to my box using string, tape, and glue, but none were working too well. I tried command strips for now just so I could see how they look hanging. I also began on the background drawing for the back of the box. Once I have finished that, I am going to attach it to a piece of cardboard and add it to the box so that there is some space behind for the string lights and battery.

In the next week I will finish the drawing and attach it to the box! I am a little nervous about how the final product will photograph and if I will be able to capture the scene using a camera. I also will find a better way to hang the bigger balloons so that they are not all at the same height and the command strips do not show. I might try to find a glossy surface as well to put on the bottom so that there could be a reflection.

I think from an aesthetic perspective you should hang the balloons with clear fishing wire, you wont be able to see it and you can hang the balloons at different heights which would look really good.

I agree with Mariah, I think clear fishing wire would look really good. I’m excited to see the final product.

Hanging the balloons with black thread might help! I tried using fishing wire with my project but found black wire easier to work with so this might be the same application. You can get both at Foisie!

They make really really thin fishing wire in black that may be what you need.
