After much internal debate and reading through my classmates comments on my concept proposals, I’ve decided to continue with the Live, Light, Tree idea.
My maquette consists of a scaled down aluminum foil tree sculpture to test how it looks with EL Wire, and how the light is reflected off the shiny foil surfaces. I have never really done any physical sculpting before, let alone with aluminum foil so this was a bit of a challenge at first. After some bit of work and a lot of re-crinkling foil I started to get the hang of it.

It looks quite beautiful already, very striking! I’m personally untroubled by the “soft” curves in the EL wire. If you have time, some fiber optic “foliage” could look really cool.
That looks really nice, are you going to make the final version out of tin foil as well? I like the way the el wire light reflects off of the tin foil.
It looks so cool already!! I like how the sculpture is a bit textured, and it is accentuated by the lights, making it look realistic and super cool! I think placing it on a glossy surface would also add a nice aspect!
I love the look of the light along the roots! It definitely brings the tree to life.
I think your idea is great! It look great already and your idea of making it bigger I think will only make it even better!
