While sifting through all the light artists to dive deeper into, I saw one of them who made infinity mirrors. They’ve always been really cool, but after watching my freshman-year roommate make one, I was put off of the complexity. My complete lack of electrical engineering skills was not a helpful element of that. Now that I’m somewhat proficient in 3D software, I was reminded of infinity mirrors and figured I’d try my hand at re-creating it. Part of its appeal is a perfect match for my fascination with marine biology, because inifinty mirrors let you create a seemingly endless expanse, much like floating right under the surface of the ocean and being able to see down into the endless dark abyss. Turns out, it was more straight forward than I thought it would be, and the hardest part was getting the camera to cooperate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Without light inside this closed mirror, there is no reflection, and thus no ‘infinity’! Every mesh in this set is just a plain white, and all the color is brought forth by a single point light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
