For my Mock up I decided to experiment with cut outs and how light would show the shadows best. I started by finding some acrylic in the makerspace to simulate glass. Then I discovered I had some gel highlighters that perfectly spread onto the acrylic and changed the color as if it were colored glass. So I cut out squares of acrylic and taped them together then slotted them into a piece of foamcore I found.
Next I found 4 flowers that represented the 4 seasons, Gardenia, Hydrangea, Daffodil, and HollyBerry. I taced them then cut them out of paper with an exacto knife, placing them in front of their designated color of season on the foamboard and taping it down. I discovered that the paper was too light in color so the light shone through the paper and no shadow was cast at all. So, I painted all of the pieces black to try and absorb the light better. It did work to make the flowers more prominant, however in the process it broke some of the finer details I had cut into the paper since it became wet and not sturdy.
Once I taped everything together I found a flashlight and cut a hole out of the bottomso that it would let the light through. This was my finished Maquette design.
I think I will change my design a bit from here since it doesnt seem likely to project shadows onto the wall or floor. However having silhouettes of the flowers on the stained glass should look just as good and be simpler overall.
