Macayle’s Autobiography

on

Hello! My name is Macayle Wells, mostly known as Mac, my pronouns are she/her and I am from Connecticut. Art plays a big role in my life and my future plans. Currently it is a way I express myself and learn new things which I find interesting. While in the future I hope to get more involved in collecting interesting yarn and start making some of my own. One of my main goals in the future is to purchase a spinning wheel and learn how to use it.

Both my mother and grandmother loved painting, so I have been painting from a very early age and art has been a big part of my life. I also learned how to sew around the age of 8 which started my crafting journey and love of yarn. As for technologies, I’ve been using technology in my life from a very early age, since my brother loves video games, I have been watching him play since I was young. As for using technology to make art, the first time I did that seriously was at WPI for my graphic design class.

These are some works I did in my graphic design class.

I love crafting anything I can physically put my hands on. I’m not good with any craft in the 2nd dimension. I do love to write however, it doesn’t go anywhere since I don’t enjoy editing. I just like coming up with stories and writing down rough drafts and going from there. I am inspired a lot by things I see online that I think are cool. I enjoy a challenge of making things without a pattern in that case. I am also inspired by thinking of things to give people, though I still like figuring out the details though visual inspiration. If I can get my hands on something that is even better so I can take a closer look at the structure and creation.

A recent finished creative project that I am proud of is a blanket that I made for my best friends grandmother. It was a crochet project for me to recreate a blanket that she had lost, which I only had a photo of and I managed to recreate it  from that. It was a fun challenge.

Here is a closeup of one of the squares along with the finished product on my best friend’s grandmas bed.

As for light art, I had never thought about it before. There is so much more to it than I expected initially. I had been worried because I’m not very good with technology, but now I know light art is so much more than that, and I think it is a very creative way to express oneself.

The badge that I am giving you is gorgeous. Your crochet work is beautiful, and I love the way you turned quotes/song lyrics into visual artworks.

The pieces you made in your graphic art design class are thought-provoking. Despite the simplicity, it feels there is a lot to be said and a lot of meaning can be interpreted. A sense of somberness is elicited nicely!

Awesome artwork! I specifically liked your graphic design work and found the works with quotes in them were particularly thought-provoking.

Familiar. Your negative-space work feels like something I have seen before, and you have executed it very well with the colors and proportions.
