Hello! My name is Aeryn, my pronouns are she/her, and I am a sophomore Mechanical Engineering Major.
I am from Milford, Connecticut, which is on the coast. I grew up really close to the beach, so I have spent a lot of time there and it is one of my favorite places.
My hobbies include art, running, and reading. I love learning new things and exploring different kinds of art and self-expression. I also love nature and science, some of which influences my art.
As for my history with art: I have always sort of been an art kid, I have always enjoyed coloring and drawing. I started “officially” drawing (or taking it seriously?) in third grade after a friend of my sister let me flip through her sketchbook. Since then, I have explored a lot of mediums (painting, digital painting, jewelry making, embroidery, sewing, doll customization), but I always go back to drawing. This drawing mostly consists of my own characters, fashion (usually alt.), animals, and nature.

There was a time where I considered pursuing a career in art but ultimately decided against it. I sort of struggled with my art after that, as a big part of me felt like it was pointless if I was not doing it for others to see. Luckily, I realized that my art is for me, and I can do whatever I want with it.
Most of my work lately has just been grabbing a few highlighters and going crazy in my sketchbook – so I unfortunately do not have a lot of recent complete/well-thought-out work to show. But I hope to get back into it soon.
For the more technical side of things: I was on an engineering team in high school so I have a decent amount of modeling and prototype building experience. I really enjoy the trial-and-error aspect of things, as it makes it feel like you are solving a puzzle. Additionally, my parents used to be in charge of event planning at my schools (from elementary to high school. Yes, they are crazy.), and I got a trickledown effect as I was conscripted into helping. This experience has spawned my love for crafting, especially when it relates back to some sort of theme. I also have some experience with set building, primarily wood cutting and building framework.
Last but not least, I love learning, so I have varying levels of knowledge about a bunch of random things. Which can sometimes be useful.
I am really looking forward to this course and I am excited to meet all of you/see your work!
*Note: I used reference photos from Pinterest for the Christmas card and above artwork :0*
I love to see your art style across each of your pieces, I can see it come through with your color choices and through your pen strokes! It brings out all the details of your pieces! Very colorful 🙂
Your artwork is awesome! I specifically liked how intentionally colorful your art is; especially that Christmas card, that cat is sooo cute!
I’m giving you the colorful badge. I love how bright your work is and how many different colors and shades you’re able to incorporate.
The badge I would give you is definitely color! The way you use it in your pieces is stunning and I’d love to learn how to do that myself.
Impressive, especially the digital artwork. The last one is my favorite!
I am also going to say impressive! the dedication to detail really shines through your work, love it!
I would give your work the cute badge, it’s got warm and comforting vibe and I really like it! Especially pochacco chilling against the mug.
The badge I would give you is the impressive badge! I am not very skilled at two-dimensional art, so you being able to work so beautifully in digital and physical art is very impressive to me.
Dark. This is primarily directed at that last piece here, but I think it is great, and if you were trying to get across an intimidating, chilling vibe, you got it.
