Concept Proposal: Long Exposure Photography

on

For my project, I am hoping to expand my photographic ability by experimenting with long exposure photography. I hope to play around with many different subjects and styles including but not limited to nature and water, the night time sky, the city and moving vehicles, and light painting. I have been a photographer both recreationally and professionally since age 12 and I have captured regular, short exposure photos of all of these subjects except for light painting. I’m excited to capture all of these in a whole new light. I’m wondering if any one has any idea for other subjects I can use for this project. Some inspiration photos are below.

I am excited to see your final project! For subject ideas: you could look to do something in the area WPI/Worcester specific. Maybe over at the bridge or people walking through campus. You can also see if there are any celestial events coming up in the area and see if you can capture one of those.

This project seems awesome! I used to dabble in photography and completely understand the planning, attention to detail, and often times luck that goes into getting an amazing long-exposure shot. While cliche, I think the subject has to really mean something to you, whether it’s the specific subject or its the location from which the photo is taken. Maybe it’s students walking through campus, a camp ground you haven’t been to in years, or something else that means more to you than others could possibly imagine. Either way, super stoked to see how this turns out!

Your focus on expanding your photographic ability through long exposure photography is exciting and ambitious. The idea of capturing diverse subjects like nature, the night sky, and light painting is particularly appealing. Maybe consider using reflective surfaces in your final pieces.
