Since my last update, I have began to troubleshoot with an assortment of sculpture materials. In addition to the color polyhedron, I have added a platform that is capable of illuminating the object through its many surfaces, as a result a spectrum of colors can be viewed all at once.
Below are images of light instruments I used to create unique effects. The featured image is a section of one of the “effects” I managed to create.
Further materials I have for my sculpture include brass and steel rods that I can turn into a pattern of pillars. I can then shine a light source onto it, the vision for this test would be the light sculpture to the right.
That’s cool how you are taking inspiration from Peter. One idea that could work for polishing the project is creating an enclosure to house the rods sticking out of the box and have the crystal/light source inside the box. This would allow for the rods to be illuminated, while also hiding the extraneous wires around the light source.
I think the brass and stainless pieces look pretty cool together. Playing with how different materials reflect and interact with the light is an interesting idea and I’m excited to see how you combine all of your parts.
The cube itself is still a really cool piece to me. If you use a bright enough light, does it project onto the surroundings? You may be able to diffuse light through the cube and then through brass rods? That could be really cool
what is the scale of this project? does it fill a whole room or is it small?
You’ve got some great ingredients, now it’s time to “cook the meal” so to speak. You may find it easier to assemble them together into a site-specific arrangement in FL A17 than to build something self-contained. Consider what other supporting or framing elements you may need, and how you’ll manage your power and wires.
Hi Roman, the polyhedron looks really cool!! Are you planning a layout that remains the same wherever it would be displayed? Or is it like specific components can be placed differently to yield different displays?
