For my project I was originally planning on a large scale painting Sun Set painting including a tree ocean or river. I wanted to challenge myself by using a larger canvas than I typically use. However I stumbled on some pictures of a bioluminescent forest in India. Which inspired me to take my art one step forward and paint a realistic natural-ish scenery in the day and night. I have included a preliminary sketch as well as a photo collage to represent the ideas i have in mind.
I have been hunting for quality bioluminescent paint to bring the light element to my artwork. If anyone knows of a good brand. I have found great reviews on Techno Glows brand of paint, and some introductory tips on using glowing paint (e.g. Layer on top of light colors. Apply 3 coats for the brightest glow anymore won’t change its visual presents. Change paint with sunlight or a UV light, household lamps and lights are not a good source.) If Anyone has any recommendations for improving my project ideas id be happy to hear them!

Bioluminescent Forest: This is a series of 4 different pictures I edited and layered on top of each other to create an outline for the image I aim to paint. This was a last minute idea, so I don’t have it sketched and prepped like the previous photo; however, this painting would be in the spirit of challenging myself. (Images include: real life bioluminescent forest and, the movie Avatar’s luminescent forest.)
I know you are not super interested in the painting changing in the dark but it would be cool if it looked like a normal forest in the light but becomes more alien looking in the dark.
I really like the luminescent forest a lot. One cool idea for the forest is to add some sort of mist to the water. I think that would add to the mystical look of the forest.
Hi Carley, I think the bioluminescent forest would be really cool! I like how you’ve edited different pictures together to create some sort of visual idea of the project. Do you know what color scheme you would be doing yet – would it be the pink/blue/green like the picture above?
Hi Carley, I am really impressed by the overlay of the forest images!! It looks amazing. I think the forest would be a really cool painting with the luminescent paints. If you are open to creating your own flora and fauna, similar to the mushroom in the pictures. It would be cool to split up the forest into multiple canvases, and then have a main object for each canvas, for example, the mushrooms are on one, and then a tree could be on another. It would be cool to see like an array of the forest!
That forest image with the avatar in the back looks so cool. Id never think it was an edited picture it looks so amazing. I personally think the Bioluminescent forest would look so cool.
