Final Documentation – Ana Roure

For my Light Art project I decided to do Genji from the video game Overwatch. Genji is a cyborg ninja that has green lights all around his body. He is one of the main heroes from the video game. I was inspired from the LED dance troupe “Light Balance” where they create costumes that are made for the dark. The idea was to make Genji’s armor and light up in pure darkness.

I first started by creating his armor using white and black EVA foam. I only had a month to make this so I decided to focus on only making the areas where the lights are located.

The LED’s are small Arduino LED’s and are all attached to the inside of EVA foam. The holes are then filled with hot glue to help the light disperse easily.

To turn on the LED’s I made a belt where I attached a Arduino board and a bunch of connectors that I soldered to the board. I also soldered a wireless receiver to the Arduino that way I could turn the LED’s on and off.

The small board to the right is the Arduino board.

The helmet was 3D printed and the visor of the helmet was made out of recycled TPU of old failed 3D prints. The helmet was divided into 2 parts that way my head can fit through easily and can be placed in

After finishing everything and polishing the lighting I was done and left with this!

I am extremely happy with how it came out and I cant wait to do more projects like this in the future.
