…but only because the things that didn’t work were discarded.
There is no more wirebot! This sucks, it wasn’t my original vision, I would have liked to show a physical object, moving smoothly, but maybe that’s a V2 thing.
In it’s current configuration, that would have been a bit too jarring. The project itself, however, looks amazing and particularly calming (to my slight chagrin, it was not meant to be calming).

I have the “entropy” of the system determine the frequencies of the waves and the damping on the marble. I.E, the more the entropy, the more chaotic the movement of the marble and the more frequent the waves become.
I have the entropy itself follow a cyclic motion, where every 140 seconds it resets, and it’s at its most at 70 seconds, however, it’s hard to tell a difference.
There are some parameters I have to play with to get a good effect, and I still have to make the housing for the foam/light board. I want to play with making the peaks of the waves white instead of red, and see what effect that may have, but I doubt it’ll be too much better.
(The weird brightness change in the video is not because of the project, but my iphone camera shifting focus)
Looks good so far! It might be easier to integrate a wirebot on top of a larger array of LEDs in the future, where it would stick out less. Still, you can clearly see the “marble in a bowl” motion which is pretty cool.
Hi Akshay, this looks really cool! Although it’s not exactly what you planned, it is very impressive!
The LED patterns are looking very organic and nice!
Now it’s time to think about mounting/framing/diffusion and how to deal with your wires and electronics.
