Hi! I’m H L, a senior from Asia double majoring in Computer Science and Interactive Media & Game Development. I always say I lack tools and ways to create art by hand, and that seems to change as I obtain methods to create digital content. Here’s my portfolio: http://HU3910Portfolio.yih0.com
I am tech-based but familiar with it’s artistic applications. For example, I coded this online 3D rendering engine from scratch. Although it looks generic and just not very well made, if I were to apply stylistic post-processing “filters” like comic styling, it would then become a novel rendering pipeline which could be called art by some.

I am also familiar with electronics, I like to build things from small tech gadgets to PCs. Here is a smart door lock prototype that I made with 2 friends, using an raspberry pi.

Some of my more recent work includes this game jam prototype that was inspired by the Cyberpunk: Edge Runner series. Its a “walking simulator” game with a rather complex storyline that I developed with a friend in 6 days. Here’s a demo video of this game which I personally think matches the song perfectly.

I could not draw at all, but the recent rise in AI generated content was helping. I know it’s controversial, but all I wanted to say is that it helped people like me, without the means of expression, a way to “produce” our ideas in a presentable fashion. I have used it for logo generation, architectural designs, and things like visual prototyping of a space.

I also am leading a AIGC research project that would hopefully enable people with game ideas but without the necessary skills to produce game space and mechanism prototypes with generative AI. Our current progress is being able to generate 3D models and place them in relative positions all from a text description – hopefully this helps some people plan their level design.
I also worked on some interesting and creative ways to program in-game AI at Rockstar Games during my internship last summer – while I am not able to disclose what exactly I did, it was still very fun and notable.

Hi H L,
I will award you with the ‘impressive’ badge. Your work is really cool and I really enjoyed looking at the 3d renderings!
Thank you so much!
impressive – i cannot even imagine what goes into coding a car rendering like that, great work
Thank you! Just a lot of linear algebra math unfortunately… Each pixel requires 6 5×5 matrices multiplied together haha
Oh and it can render anything in the obj format!
Striking- I feel that when looking at your impressive background, there was a lot of striking elements, such as the electrical work and the AI generated images you have done.
clever – I think it’s a cool idea to use AI to generate quick prototypes of a specific image style.
Badge ~ “Colorful”
The level design and game prototype images offer very vibrant visuals which brings the world to life.
Hi H L, I’d like to give you the impressive badge because your work is great and takes a lot of skill!
Hi H L!
I’d by far give you the inventive badge! These are amazing and as a gamer I appreciateThe vibrant colors and dedication that goes into creating your work!
cute – I love Greyson he is so adorable. He must be protected at all time 🙂
Inventive and detailed – that is how I would describe this portfolio. Great work!
