I am Jacob Kaplan, a senior studying computer science at WPI. <\/h3><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I have been working with various media since early high school, creating person-sized sculptures, photography in different styles, pastel pieces, digital art, and even blown glass. I have been mixing technology and art since high school, writing programs to generate art, and working with data visualization to create aesthetically pleasing and functional pieces as well. I have worked on many projects using Arduinos and Raspberry PIs mixed with various sensors and low level, self-assembled hardware. Languages I have worked in include the C family, Java, Javascript, Python, and many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me, art is self expression. The feeling of creating a work of art which strikes awe gives me a rush unlike anything else. The absence of constraints and syntax is also a welcome yet radical change from the computer-science world I spend most of my time in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am inspired by other artists (currently particularly taken by the organic works created by Alexander Ross, and Ruslan Khasanov), by biology, and by visual representations of abstract concepts in computer science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
