Santiago Giraldo Introduction and Portfolio

Hello,

My name is Santiago Giraldo Godoy, I’m a rising junior in Computer Science from Bogotá, Colombia. From a young age, I was captivated by the power of visual storytelling through the lens of a camera. I started with digital photography, using just my cellphone to capture the world around me, especially during vacations to different countries, which were somewhat often in my family. As I grew, so did my interest and skills in this field. I dived into more professional equipment and discovered a new love for film photography. Thanks to the photography club in WPI I have been able to expand and use better equipment for my photography. I’m planning to buy a professional DSLR in the upcoming months as I intend to continue documenting my travels and adventures of life in eternity through my pictures. I would like to buy a film camera in the future and have my very own darkroom to develop pictures as I see film pictures as the purest and unadulterated style of photography.

I find joy in photographing the mundane, the everyday things we often overlook. My goal is to remind people of the beauty that surrounds us through my work. Landscapes, buildings, and people are some things that I like to include in my work. Among other types of artistic expression that I do is dancing, and video editing, I have a channel with a few videos that I have done. I’m also a skilled programmer with knowledge of Arduino and some electrical concepts.

My interest in Light Art stems from its unique blend of traditional painting and photography. It fascinates me how a single, unedited photograph can transform into a painting with the correct use of exposure. I believe Light Art is a perfect amalgamation of my love for photography and my technical skills from my Computer Science background.

In my portfolio, I include different images that I have taken, a lot of them are from my trip to Europe this summer. I also encourage you to go to my public Instagram page for my photography @santiago_giraldo_photography. I also have some videos I have edited and short movies I’ve made on my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@santiagogiraldo9985.
