The skirt is done! The hardest part of my project is working, and pretty well in my opinion. I was able to straighten the tassels with a hair straightener. I had to use a tap technique rather than the clamp and straighten technique that one would use on hair. After, I sewed them onto the skirt fairly easily thanks to the hooks at the top. The heat shrink tubing has been holding pretty well and with the brighter LEDs, the optic fibers are much brighter now. I am super excited to put the EL wire on the leotard as my final touch. Frankly though, I think the skirt looks awesome on it’s own.
The fiber optics look great with the brighter light, and they flow so well with the rest of the tassels. I am curious what designs you were thinking of making with the EL wire though? I think a swirling pattern would look nice with the free-flowing form of the skirt.
