Cullen Jacene: Final Documentation

Lasers are not a typical medium for creating art, and when they are used, they usually take the form of very abstract patterns due to their limitations. This project sought to experiment with what could be done with lasers by creating a recognizable design, the outline of the continents, using the beams of lasers. This was achieved through a series of angled mirrors that redirected the beams along a specific path so that the design was revealed when a mist was applied. Ultimately, the lasers were able to create a stunning drawing of the world in an unconventional way, pushing the boundary of what could be done with the medium. The project fulfilled the humanities and arts requirement for Worcester Polytechnic Institute which aims to provide a broader education outside of STEM.
