Concept Proposal

One idea I have is to create a transparent display by taking apart a monitor. By doing this it will allow me to make a computer side panel be a black and clear display. I will be using the lights inside the case to be basically the back light of the monitor.

Another Idea I had was to use spinning lights to display art or a picture on either a bike or a ceiling fan. The light could be fastened to the wheel spokes or to a fan blade and I could possibly use an accelerometer to tell how fast its spinning to control the picture/artwork being displayed.

Your idea is so creative! I really like the idea of taking an old monitor and turning it into a unique piece of art. I think it would add such a special spin to a PC or even just a window.

Do you plan on trying to add colored LEDs in the back in order to add some color or are you going to play on the black and white theme. I don’t think you can go wrong either way.

So I am a little confused, when you make the pattern, can you like control it digitally, or is like a thing that you cut into your materials? Either way, love the trippy depth effects you can achieve with this medium, and I hope your work will also do the same. I wonder if you can color these screens though, would be a cool experiment to try out.

I love this idea! Taking apart a monitor to make a transparent display is certainly not easy, measure twice cut once. (There may be a free tv on Denny st, no idea if its still available). Would the spinning light art you would show on the screen be linked to computer behavior?

I have never even heard of that trick with the monitor and think that is such an amazing idea! How difficult will it be to pull off? Will you be able to spend a lot of time with the lighting or will the take a backseat to the monitor?
