Experimentation and Failure – Week 5

I spent this week experimenting and trying to fully lay out the concepts I wanted to try. I know I want to eventually get silhouette made by outlining her from behind with lights, as well as a wing picture, where I use sticks of light to make it look like she has wings behind her. I also had the idea for doing a halo picture, but I am not sure if I will have to do that separately from the wings since I am one person with only two hands trying to operate a camera, pose a cat, operate the lights, and figure out lighting.

I liked the colors and the movement of the lights in the back with these ones, but the images were either shot poorly or Lily refused to cooperate:

These pictures were nice, and I liked the jellyfish effect, but the stick is visible, the room is very lit up, and the photos are of poor quality and composition:

Lily really liked the fairy lights in these and I noticed she is much easier to take pictures of her if I play with her beforehand and then bore her by doing the same thing over and over again until she sits still. However, I need to work on dimming the room more and getting a better background.

These images were good, and I like the lighting, but either she moved too much or the halo came out wrong. That said, some of my classmates mentioned liking the small bit of movement and really dark face:

I love this one, and will probably keep it for my final product. That said, the light stream clearly ends fairly abruptly, but I love how Lily is posed and lit in this picture.

Finally, the two images on the left were both decent in their own sense, but I was able to get the image on the right by combining them. This will probably be included in my final product:
