This week, my focus was adding the frame to me project, which not only cleans up the look of the project but also houses all the mechanisms for operating the lasers. It did not go as planned though, as I severely underestimated the difficulty of lining up the laser buttons with the screws, I planned to press them with and was unable to glue anything directly to the laser button to increase its size. I did two things to fix this. I made larger holes in the frame and then covered them up with disks that the screw went through so that I could have a larger tolerance for hole placement. I also made pistons that would press the button if any section was hit. Additionally, I added a screw to the side of the frame which would clamp the top in place better to ensure none of the buttons became disengaged.
Despite these setbacks, the end result looks amazing and looks exactly how I envisioned at the start of the term.
The frame was a great last touch! And I think it was the best option to use the laser cutter. the engineering on the lasers and housing for them made the display!
