After successfully gutting the magnet that was in the camera light I had bought, I was easily able to secure the light to my drone using zip ties, and an old tripod adapter I had sitting around. All it took to remove was a hard pry from a knife and it came right off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Getting the drone up in the air wasn’t much of a challenge after that. Flying the drone at night was not an easy feat, though. Even though I feel I have plenty of experience flying this drone, it felt like a whole different set of controls, especially at night. The light on the drone was putting it into “attitude” mode, a mode that turns the drone full throttle in high-wind situations to avoid flyaways. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first two locations I went to were a swamp and old stone church. I learned three very important things that night: First, having a subject is a lot more important than it first seemed. Second, a subject with a substantial amount of light is usually too exposed for any exposure long enough to trace a long path with a drone. Finally, the drone, even though very bright, is still not bright enough even at distances of 100 feet. Here’s two of the photos that came out of that night:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
