I have two primary ideas for my project, one of which photography related and the other of which is some sort of LED piece I can use as a wall piece in my apartment.
Drone Light Painting
Light painting has always been an interesting concept to me, though I’ve never been able to explore it. I do a decent amount of photography in my free time, however, it’s usually nature photography and city photography, never touching concepts of exposures or artistic lighting techniques.

Photos like these first sparked my interest in light painting until I recently saw photos using a drone as a paintbrush. This made me interested because it brought the idea of light painting into the sky. It might sound mundane but it’s always something I’ve wanted to try

LED Wall Art
Alternatively, I could do something with LEDs. I’m not quite sure what that would be because I am still trying to find a mix of something that I would both be able to make in this constricted time frame, and that would be useful. I want my art to be a centerpiece if it is tangible, and thus it should be sound reactive or something.
I really like the light bars in this piece, I think it might be cool to create a wall or hanging art or something with them that is music-reactive. This would require a microphone or Bluetooth capability, which I haven’t planned that far
Some piece similar to this might be modern, sleek, yet cool, especially if it is reactive to sound or something similar.
Overall I’m not certain which route I want to take but both are very different and I’d appreciate feedback as to routes I could take with both of them so I can make a decision that would suit my needs.
I am interested to see where you decide to take your drone to do the light painting. This could turn out to be really cool if it comes out like you described in class.
Using technology such as a drone to create a light painting is super fascinating and inventive as it allows a much wider range of options for creating a light painting than the typical LED stick that a human waves around. Placing an LED on the drone in which a controller can change its color could be used to change color mid-photo and could add exciting detail to your photographs. Do you plan on also capturing the night sky and background in immense detail, and if so, how do you plan on doing that?
I think the drone long exposure art would be cool! I think that if you want the background and the drone itself well-lit, you’ll have to probably take two photos. One higher exposure shot for the background, and then a lower exposure shot so you can isolate the drone lights themselves. Then you can overlay them to get everything exposed correctly.
