Maquette – Liam Hoyle

For my Maquette, I experimented with some different colored glow sticks to make a simple tree design. The iPhone camera worked well. The final products were a little blurry. I think this was due to a combination of me not using the remote shutter release included with the tripod and having it set up on the grass in the wind. Here is the best image I made.

My light painting, supposed to be a Wisteria Tree

I also experimented with writing my name, which was kind of difficult because there’s no way to turn off a glow stick between words.

My name

I think checking out a real camera would be a good idea. I was planning to continue trying out more colors for my tree design. After an hour or so of experimenting how to draw my tree the best way, I heard a lot of loud rustling noises from my bushes. I decided it was best to call it a night.

With or without a better camera, I think a flashlight that can change colors, or a powerful flashlight paired with color filters would be helpful.

I think your trial looks really cool and reminds me of a jellyfish. However, getting an actual camera instead of an Iphone will definitely make the project look better and more professional.

I think your maquette looks really cool and if the iphone camera isn’t capable of doing what you want, you could do a more abstract piece. However, as you said in class a better camera, would most likely help a lot. I’m interested to see what you can do with it!

Your maquette looks fantastic, and I like how bright the colors appear on it. Utilizing a light that can turn off and on could help create images like the one of your name, and could be used to add more complexity to your photos. Also, as you said, using a professional camera instead of an iPhone could greatly help with photo quality.

This looks like an amazing start, I think doing different shots for detail and overlaying them will help you tremendously.
