Failure – Codey Battista

This week, I focused on the laser cutting portion of my project and how it could pose some challenges later on in the process. When I do the engraving, I want to dig into the acrylic a little, however, I don’t want it to go too much into the material or show burn marks. Burn marks would make the project look unprofessional. In order to keep this from happening, I had to experiment with the settings of the laser cutter. The settings include the speed, power, and how many passes the laser cutter would go through. While experimenting, I used scraps of acrylic and burned multiple pieces until I found the settings I would use for the project. Now I can move onto laser cutting the final material for my project.

These are the burn marks I am trying to avoid.
