After many trials and tribulations, my shoes are finally finished. I am rather happy with the outcome. Created from a pair of off-brand Amazon converses, dental floss, EL wire, quilt batting, and many many hours of work and poked fingers.
I completed this project by cutting out a rectangle in the sole to put the battery pack and wires in, and sewing the EL wire on and through the shoes. I decided to sew the wire on with floss instead of thread, due to my previous experience with sewing and the durability of normal thread vs floss.
I was able to learn a lot about EL wiring and even the build and designs of different shoes throughout this project. I did research into different lights and their reliability, originally thinking I was going to use optic fibers. Once the wires were all sewn in place, I needed to rebuild the sole of the shoe and give it a bit more of a heel to fit all the wires. This lead to research and trails with different filling for the newly heeled sole, eventually landing on quilt batting.
I am overall very pleased with the outcome of this project, I definitely had some low points but everything came together nicely.
