Everything Working

In my opinion I think I have made quite some progress.

For failure N1. I have thought about borrowing a weird spinning base/tower that I saw in the Zoo lab at Fullers. It seems to have the perfect size for the zoetrope and also it spins much better than the spinning bearing I have bought.

For failure N2. thanks to my roommate she pointed out that in many Carnovsky’s RGB artwork, they do not use RGB for their drawings, but they use magenta, cyan, and yellow and RGB for their light filters! Thus, she was kind enough to come with me to the library to do multiple printing takes when it came to which layer pattern should be used and what opacity should each drawn layer be. We eventually found the best format for the printing should be yellow with 100% opacity on top, magenta with 85% in the middle, and cyan with 80% opacity as the bottom layer.

This was the before with the frames being in red, green, and blue with all colors being 100% opacity
And this is the latest version with yellow, magenta, and cyan

As well as, we thought what should the printing format be to fit the base for the zoetrope. My first printing attempt was printing 5 frames in landscape format, and eventually we decided to make 6 drawing frames in landscape which helped with keeping the quality decent and fit the frames on the zoetrope base.

In the end I was also able to make a quick simple pattern/program for the RGB lightbulb to slowly change its three main primary colors and the Carnovsky’s effect looks great!

The only issues now that I have, is that when I put everything together, at first everything seems great, but when I spin the zoetrope the animation looks very blurry, will be trying to work with that. I think I need to add slits on top of the animation to help break down the frames.

The magenta, yellow, and cyan worked very well in person. I thought it was cool how the image changed based on the color of the light. I was also impressed with how you drew all of the frames yourself.
