After many surprises and technical difficulties, my project is done and ready to be presented. After going to the laser cutter last Monday, Bragg and I successfully used the laser cutter and were ready to connect the lights on it. However, after careful consideration, I realized that my material, acrylic, was too thin and wouldn’t look as good as a final product. In addition, the LED strip lights that I was going to use were too thick and not flexible enough to wrap around the corners of the logo. Overall, the concept did not work as well as I thought it was going to but after some deliberation, I worked out a new way to create my project.
Instead, I manipulated my project for the better and used a different material. I instead used birch wood and engraved the logo using the laser cutter. I spent 4 hours in the laser cutter room waiting for the engraving to be done. I then bought EL wire because it is more flexible than LED strip lights. I also painted the wood black so that the light would be more illuminating in a darker setting.
Overall, it came out just how I expected it to and I am excited to present it to you all today!
