Failure – Andrew Mesa

I had two major failures this week when constructing the tree structure and attaching the LEDs to the structure.

Failure #1 was the PVC pipe I purchased was too small to string the LEDs through twice. I only accounted for stringing the lights through the PVC pipe once when purchasing the materials. However, to allow the lights to reach through the whole structure of the tree, it had to be strung through it twice. Luckily, the materials were cheap, and I went back to the store. Instead of purchasing the ¼-inch-diameter PVC pipes, I purchased the ¾-inch-diameter PVC pipes and was able to string the lights through them twice.

Failure #2 was that the tape did not permanently hold the lights around the tree. This prevented me from hanging the lights around the tree to simulate leaves. To attach the lights to the tree, I will first use tape to temporarily attach them to the tree to ensure I like the placement of them, and then I will use super glue to attach them permanently. After discussion in class, I may also use dual-lock to attach the lights to the tree.
